Snow (almost) everywhere in the mountains and remarkable accumulations in the Pyrenees

Monday morning is calm although a few snowflakes can still flutter from the Vercors to the Chablais.

The snowfall accumulation expected between now and then is as follows:
– around 800 meters: 2 to 5 cm in internal massifs, 5 to 10 cm in Lauzière/Beaufortain, 10 to 15 cm in the Prealps and locally 15 to 25 cm in -Vercors and Chartreuse.
– around 1400 meters: 10 to 15 cm in Maurienne/Haute-Maurienne, 15 to 25 cm in Vanoise/Haute-Tarentaise/Oisans, 20 to 30 cm from Lauzière to Mont-Blanc, generally 30 to 40 cm along the Pre-Alps even 40 to 60 cm in Chartreuse and Nord-Vercors.
– above 2000 meters: 15 to 25 cm in Haute-Maurienne, 25 to 35 cm in Maurienne, generally 35 to 50 cm elsewhere but 60 to 80 cm in Nord-Belledonne.

Consult the accumulations expected by our weather model at the stations of the massif.

Southern Alps:

It will therefore be the massif least affected by snowfall.

A beautiful sun is still holding on this THURSDAY afternoon while the sky is cloudy elsewhere, and it is relatively mild.

The disturbance which impacts the Northern Alps over the next few hours only affects the Hautes-Alpes, and briefly, between the end of next night and the start of the day Friday. Fortunately, because the rain-snow limit is close to 2300/2500 meters. We are only waiting 1 to 3 cm of snow above 2600 meters over most of the department but locally 5 to 10 cm in the Ecrins.
The weather quickly dries out as Friday morning progresses and the sun regains its rights despite a few residual clouds, in the north of the massif, until the beginning of the afternoon.

SATURDAYit is still sunny in the morning in the Alpes-Maritimes while the sky is getting cloudier further north. The disturbance sweeps across the Hautes-Alpes and the north of the Alpes de Haute-Provence between the end of the morning and the beginning of the evening with snow around 2000 meters then gradually decreasing towards 1300 meters.
The expected snowfall accumulation is as follows:

– around 1600 meters: nothing south of Ubaye, 2 to 5 cm further north or even 5 to 10 cm in Champsaur/Dévoluy.
– above 2100 meters: nothing in Mercantour, 2 to 5 cm in the Alpes de Haute-Provence, 5 to 10 cm in the Hautes-Alpes or even 10 to 20 cm in the Ecrins.

Then: well the map below sums up the situation well. While light to moderate snowfall affects the Northern Alps, the drying is clear once past the Bayard pass and the Ecrins and the day of Sunday promises to be very cold under the north wind but precipitation is rare and the weather is mixed between clouds (more numerous on the Italian border) and sometimes appreciable clearings.

Maximum temperatures will not exceed -4/-1 degrees around 1500 meters and -7/-4 degrees around 2500 meters.

Consult the accumulations expected by our weather model at the stations of the massif.
