The former minister and finalist in the 2007 presidential election believes that Emmanuel Macron, to whom she presented her candidacy, must appoint a left-wing Prime Minister “capable of creating an expanded government.”

“I owe it to all women and little girls.” In a message published on the social network

“Yes, I am available and I wrote it to the President of the Republic. So that no one says, if a Prime Minister of a party disavowed in the elections is nominated again, is censored again, that it is through lack of a candidate from the left, experienced and unifying,” she wrote.

“Expanded government”

Invited on BFMTV shortly after the announcement of the passage of the motion of censure, Ségolène Royal, who was Minister of the Environment, strongly criticized the names of potential successors to Michel Barnier which have been circulating for several hours, including those of Sébastien Lecornu or François Bayrou.

“But it's extravagant, it means that there will be a motion of censure again if there is a second time the same mistake which is made of taking a Prime Minister who comes from a party which lost the elections. A second motion of censure is not only serious for the economic and social situation of the country, but it is what will weaken the President of the Republic,” she said.

The one who regrets a “lack of visibility on the common project which holds us together at the level of the French Nation” has thus assured, the new tenant of Matignon must come from the winning coalition of the last legislative elections, the New Popular Front (NFP).

“This is the reason why we must both choose a left-wing Prime Minister, and at the same time be capable of creating an enlarged government, which reflects the republican front,” she concludes.

This Thursday, Michel Barnier is expected at 10 a.m. at the Élysée Palace to present his resignation to the President of the Republic. Emmanuel Macron will very likely accept it: the future-former Prime Minister explained at the start of the week that he does not intend to stay in office after being censored.
