Kylian Mbappe remains an unfortunate figure at Real Madrid. In the 1-2 defeat in Bilbao, the superstar missed another penalty. Carlo Ancelotti notes that Mbappe’s form is missing a lot.

Kylian Mbappe is still in crisis at Real Madrid. The fact that he missed another penalty in his club’s 2-1 defeat in Bilbao on Wednesday does nothing to improve his tense situation. It was an almost exact copy of his penalty in Liverpool – a weak shot into the corner that the keeper parried with ease.

“Of course he is sad and disappointed,” said Real coach Carlo Ancelotti afterwards about Mbappe, who, according to legend, should receive more support. “He’s more than just one percent of Saint-Germain’s Mbappe. He’s obviously not in his best shape, but you have to give him time to settle in. He’s scored ten goals, he can do even better, that “It’s clear. He’s working on it.”

In Bilbao, Mbappe, who was used in a double strike, was not only negligent from the penalty spot. After around an hour, the superstar missed another top-class chance after Rodrygo had provided him with strong preparatory work.

Ancelotti will now have to do a lot of building work. But he doesn’t want to put the sole blame for the defeat on Mbappe: “I haven’t spoken to him yet. It was an incredibly competitive game. Small details went against us today. I won’t pin a player’s game on a penalty.”
