The Sainte-Barbe ceremony was celebrated by the Chauvigny rescue center, Saturday November 30, 2024, Salle de la Poterie, in the presence of local personalities, Sdis (Departmental Fire and Rescue Service) and the Department. On this occasion, “The man of the evening”, Master Corporal Patrick Roy, received honors from the officials and his fellow firefighters.

“More than three decades of serving, protecting and saving”

“We are also gathered this evening to mark an important milestone in the life of a man, our friend Patrick Roy, said Babal, who dedicated more than three decades to serving, protecting and saving. He embodied this public service mission with exemplary dedication. Whether in emergency interventions or in moments of doubt and fatigue, he was always there, faithful”testifies Lieutenant Jean-Noël Dairon, deputy head of the center. « Patrick, he continues, Your comrades here, just like the elders, know what this life of volunteer firefighter requires. But they also know that you did it out of passion and duty. »

This Sainte-Barbe was also an opportunity to take stock of the past year. “The number of firefighters at the rescue center is thirty-eight, including seven women. Five recruitments were made this year and six more are planned for next year”indicates Lieutenant Jean-Noël Dairon. “Since the start of the year, 626 interventions have been carried out. 51% of them concern personal rescue, 16% accidents, 8% fires, 21% various operations, 3% reconnaissance. In terms of operational availability, all personnel worked 73,000 hours, or 1,500 hours more than in 2023, without forgetting the 1,270 hours linked to the various maneuvers.he adds.

As for Captain Bruno Anglada, head of the rescue center, the latter underlined “his pride in commanding his thirty-eight volunteer firefighters, including seven women », saluting “their investment, their professionalism”.

Stripes, medals and diplomas

Then followed a presentation of stripes by the personalities present. Jordane Dumont was promoted to the rank of chief warrant officer, Patrick Roy to the rank of honorary sergeant, Kévin Robieux to the rank of corporal, Brenda Distinguin to grade 1re class. Other personnel from the Chauvigny rescue center were awarded a diploma in relation to their specialty.
Furthermore, Corporal Kévin Robieux was awarded the firefighters' medal of honor for ten years of service, while honorary sergeant Patrick Roy was awarded the gold medal of the Departmental Union of firefighters and the medal for recognition of commitment within the Sdis.
