The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a winter weather advisory that will be in effect from 10pm Wednesday until 4am Friday, with a few inches of snow expected in and around Ithaca and several inches in Cortland and other areas to our northeast. There’s also a wind advisory in effect from 7am-9pm Thursday.
Snow showers are likely to develop Wednesday afternoon, with more widespread snow showers from tonight into Thursday morning. The best chance for snow squalls is from 4-10am Thursday, according to NWS Binghamton. Ithaca is in a band that’s expected to get 3-4 inches through Friday.
Additional lake effect snow is expected from Thursday afternoon into Friday, with heavy additional accumulations anticipated in the Western New York and North Country snow belts.

Thursday’s wind advisory means blowing fresh snow could reduce visibility, as well as blowing and drifting of snow across roads or previously cleared areas. Tree limbs could be blown down, resulting in scattered power outages. Peak wind gusts for the Ithaca area are expected to be around 44mph.
