Nurseries, schools and canteens closed… what awaits you this Thursday of strike in Nice

Engaged in a standoff with the Minister of the Civil Service whose “contempt”the civil servants' unions have called – with the exception of FO – for a day of action this Thursday, December 5, 2024. This call for a strike by agents, all branches combined, will particularly have a strong impact on schools. The teachers' union SNUipp puts forward a strike rate of 65%.

In the nurseries

Regarding nurseries and daycare centers, of the 27 establishments, 4 will be open, 3 closed and 19 will operate in restricted service with only certain sections open.

Family reception services, early childhood relays and the 3 Child-Parent Welcome Centers will be open, with the exception of LAEP Les Petits Loups.

In schools

Of the 149 schools in the city of Nice, 32 will be completely closed this Thursday and 91 other establishments will be partially affected by closures of one or more classes. There are 33 nursery schools, 44 elementary schools and 14 primary schools whose operations will be disrupted because of the strike.

A minimum reception service has been set up by the town hall at the Impératrice-Eugénie center. Registrations will take place on site Thursday, December 5 between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

95 canteens closed

The school canteens of 95 municipal schools will also be closed. As part of after-school time, morning care will not be provided in 48 establishments and there will be no evening daycare in 57 schools.

Transports

Public transport provided by the Ligne d'Azur authority should not be affected by this strike movement.
