Standard may have inherited the worst draw for the Croky Cup round of 16: Genk. The team is leading the championship and is one of the best to see playing this season in Belgium. However, the Limburgers are not infallible and were also hooked in Sint-Truiden this weekend.
The Rouches also played last Saturday in the Walloon clash, against Charleroi, and achieved 7 out of 12 in the last four matches. But away from home, Leko’s men have only won once this season, against Dender, on September 13.

“In the championship, it will be very difficult for them to reach play-offs 1 (the first 6 places), so it must clearly be an objective for Standard,” underlines our consultant.
How to destabilize this Genk team?
“A bit like they did at the start of the championship against Bruges, at home: by sticking together, not giving much to the opponent and trying to go on the counterattack. And if on the first opportunities they have, they know how to score… It could be a trap match for Genk, afterwards, it would have been easier for Standard if the match had been at Sclessin. In Genk, it will be more complicated“, concludes Silvio Proto.
