The Brazilian Series A Championship is in its 68th edition, with the same regulations as in previous years. The competition is contested by twenty clubs in two rounds. In each round, all teams play each other once. The second round games will be played in the same order as the first, only with the field being reversed. The team that obtains the most points after the 38 rounds will be declared Brazilian champion.
At the end of the competition, the first six teams qualify for the Copa Libertadores, the subsequent six clubs qualify for the Copa Sudamericana, and the last four will be relegated to the following year's Série B. The champion will qualify for the Brazilian Super Cup, facing the Brazilian Cup champion in the final.
