Hansi Flick explained he decided to take Robert Lewandowksi out of his starting XI against Real Mallorca because the striker needs a rest.
Lewandowski had started all 15 La Liga games before the trip to Son Moix, but Flick says he needs a breather.
“He has played a lot of minutes and he needs to rest. We have a big game on Saturday (Betis), the next one too (Dortmund on Wednesday 11). I think it’s good for him to rest,” he said.
Flick has brought in Ferran Torres, while Dani Olmo is also back in the team. The Barca boss says it’s a must-win game for his men.
“Well, we have to win this game, I think we’re playing well, but in the end I felt we needed 5% more concentration, to be more effective in front of goal,” he added.
“We need more concentration in the most important situations, not only to score, but also to defend.
“They all play very well with the ball, Casadó is very important for us, as is Dani Olmo, he always knows what to do with the ball and he is capable and I hope that Lamine can show his quality.
“We have a very young team and we have to work on it. I love working with young players, as does my staff. We hope that we leave Mallorca with a victory today.”
Barcelona are on a run of three league games without a win but will be hoping to reverse that trend in Mallorca.
