Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron, who won the gold medal at the 2022 Olympics, have decided to end their careers.

Away from competitions for more than two years, French skaters Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron, Olympic ice dance champions in 2022, announced on Tuesday December 3 the end of their careers.

At 29 and 30 years old respectively, the two French people bow out with a dazzling track record: five world crowns, five European titles, a silver medal at the 2018 Olympics and finally Olympic consecration in 2022 in Beijing.

“We take away wonderful memories”

“We could not have dreamed of a more beautiful career,” they wrote in a press release. “We owe this career to our coaches, our parents, our federation, our choreographers, physical and mental trainers, costume designers, agents, physiotherapists, doctors, supporters, journalists… without whom we would never have reached the highest level of our art. It is with immense gratitude that we decide to turn the page. A huge thank you to our public for the pleasure shared with us on the ice”, they add.
