Capture BFMTV
Maxime Switek will host the 8 p.m. news on BFMTV from January 2025.
MEDIA – It's a small revolution in the world of television and continuous news channels. BFMTV announced this Tuesday, December 3 that it would very soon try to establish itself in the very popular 8 p.m. news slot, currently monopolized by France 2 and TF1.
Viewers will be able to discover this brand new 8 p.m. news program on TNT next January. Opposite Gilles Bouleau on TF1 and Anne-Sophie Lapix on France 2, there will soon be Maxime Switek, BFMTV's flagship journalist.
This television news will take the place of 8 p.m. Brunetthe show currently presented by Éric Brunet and Alice Darfeuille, who herself replaced the 8 p.m. from Ruquier hosted by Laurent Ruquier at the start of the 2023 school year and quickly abandoned.
The objective for BFMTV will be to compete not only with TF1 and France 2, leaders in the time slot, but also with CNews and the show Time for the pros 2 by Pascal Praud who is far ahead of BFMTV in the audiences on this strategic box. As reported The Worldthis new news should last 2 hours and offer reports and on-set discussions with experts and interviews.
Former voice of Europe 1, and ex-columnist of C to you on France 5, Maxime Switek has become in recent years one of the most identified journalists on the channel on which he presents the morning slot from 9 a.m. to noon, after having hosted the evenings for a long time. We still do not know who will replace him in the morning on BFMTV, nor on the exact date this new news program will begin on the channel, nor if it will have a weekend format.
