The double Olympic champion in Paris was back in Belgium this week to continue his preparation for the next season.
Remco Evenepoel, victim of a fall in training Tuesday morning, was taken to hospital, according to several Belgian media which published images of the Belgian cyclist from the Soudal Quick-Step team being taken care of by paramedics.
According to these same sources, citing relatives of the runner, the double Olympic champion could not have avoided the open door of a post office vehicle Belgian. Images published on social networks show the 2022 world champion, visibly conscious, being placed in a seated position on a stretcher. A photo of his bike's frame “cut in two” was also released.
“We’re still waiting to see how he’s doing.”
“Remco has been transferred to hospital Erasmus of Anderlecht (in the Brussels region, editor's note). We're still waiting to see how he's doing. We're on our way to the hospital.”declared the father of the cyclist to the daily The Latest News.
Seen last weekend in Doha on the sidelines of the Qatar F1 Grand Prix, Evenepoel (24) was back in Belgium this week to continue his preparation for the next season. His return to competition is in principle scheduled for early February.
