The Moroccan artistic scene is in mourning after the death, this Tuesday morning, of Mustapha Zaari, an emblematic figure of theater, television and cinema. It was actor Mohamed Choubi who confirmed the sad news.
In a message on his Facebook account, Choubi announced the death of Mustapha Zaari, after a long fight against a serious illness.
Born on November 5, 1945 in Casablanca, Mustapha Zaari belonged to the prestigious “generation of pioneers” of Moroccan theater. His prolific career has spanned cinema and television screens as well as theater stages.
Zaari enjoyed immense popularity, the result of the disarming simplicity of his playing and the moving sincerity of his interpretations. He knew how to touch the hearts of Moroccans, among whom he remains deeply respected.
With his accomplice Dassoukine, who was also lost this year at the age of 82, Zaari wrote memorable pages of Moroccan television and theater history, contributing to the legend of national humor alongside famous duos such as Bziz and Baz, Ajil and Foulane, Kachbal and Zerouale, or even Karzaz and Mahrach.
