INTEGRATED: Tom Waes’ message
“I don’t remember anything about the accident or the circumstances that evening in the Kennedy Tunnel. The fact is that I went to a restaurant and café that evening, and that I drank too much to be allowed to drive the car. Yet I I got in my car to get home. Incomprehensible. I should never have done that, there is no doubt about that.”
“I realize that I was very lucky. Lucky that I did not cause any casualties. Lucky that I survived. It is a big, incomprehensible mistake, which makes me feel terrible. I would therefore like to offer my sincere apologies. , to everyone. I’m terribly sorry.”
“I would like to thank all the nursing staff as well as the medical intervention team for the fantastic care given to me and my loved ones. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have every confidence in the further course of the judicial investigation. Now I will fully focus on recovery and rehabilitation, and therefore I will not make any further statements to the press in the coming months until my management reports that I have regained sufficient mental and physical strength.”
