Bordeaux will host Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais at its stadium on December 21 or 22. The date of the match has not yet been decided.
However, the Girondins coach explains that the priority remains the championship.
The most important is the National 2
Bruno Irlès in the columns of Sud-Ouest: “I am happy for those who love football in the Bordeaux region, because we are going to offer them a great poster against a Ligue 1 club. But the loyal supporters, like us, have understood that the important matches are those on Saturday and the following week (against Stade Briochin and La Roche VF). They are the ones who will determine our season. I always have a lot of apprehension with the Coupe de France. This match must serve us, but there is an important emotional and media aspect and my role is to remind the players, the club, the supporters that the championship is more important. They changed coaches. There is individual quality, a psychological shock as we saw last weekend (Rennes beat 5-0).”
The objective of the Girondins de Bordeaux this season is to move up to National 1.
