Invited to promote his latest show “Nouveau Monde”, Malik Bentalha did not do things by halves. What was supposed to be a classic interview quickly turned into a real improvised stand-up. Between concern for the presenter, improbable dedications and a cult finale, the comedian offered a sequence as memorable as it was uncontrollable.
It all started (almost) seriously. While Olivier Schoonejans returned to certain heavy subjects of the television news, Malik Bentalha could not hide his concern for the presenter. “Tomorrow, we have to have better news, I’m worried about you, Olivier”he said, triggering laughter from the set. An introduction which already announced the sequel: impossible to know where the comedian was going to take us.
During the interview, Malik Bentalha spots an object that immediately catches his attention. Obviously fascinated by the presenter’s wooden watch, Malik was quick to express his interest: “I’ve been looking at her ever since.”. Obviously, the comedian does as he pleases and tries, for a laugh, to steal the accessory while the presenter watches. “I’ll give it back to you, don’t worry.”he promised.
Wink to an ex
True to himself, Malik Bentalha then continued with a series of confidences that were as funny as they were improvised. The comedian, who had already been on this same set five years ago, gave a wink to an ex-partner from Braine-l’Alleud before venturing into even more unexpected territory: a declaration to the singer Angèle.
“I was very disappointed that there was no wedding, I had booked near Lake Como… in Spain! Financially, I am less comfortable than a few years ago years, you can see it with the weight loss and I don’t have the bouquet I think you will pretend not to see but it doesn’t matter, my feelings are still present.
A crazy end to the news
But it was at the end of the interview that the comedian definitely took charge. Making an unexpected request, he insisted on concluding the news in place of Olivier Schoonejans. Before playing the presenter, he did not hesitate to undress his host while joking: “Gotta drop the shirt!” Result ? A slightly hesitant closing where the name of Luc Gilson gave Malik a hard time.
If Malik Bentalha has shown that he can capture the public’s attention, from there to replacing Olivier Schoonejans, there is still a long way to go!
