A sudden drop in temperatures seems to be confirmed for the weekend with the arrival of an air mass from the Arctic. What consequences for France? Find our latest forecasts in this article.
What we announced to you yesterday now seems to be confirmed for the weekend, the weekend and even the start of next week. Indeed, an active cold front will cross most regions on Saturday, bringing sustained rain and strong gusts of wind.
Behind this front, the flow should shift to the northern sector, leading to a sharp drop in temperatures and snowfall on all low altitude reliefs.
According to the latest forecasts, the flow could then move towards the northeast sector, leading to a further drop in temperatures: Almost widespread frosts are expected in the morning, while temperatures will remain below seasonal norms during the day.

A very disruptive weekend ahead!
SATURDAY, an active and very rainy disturbance will cross a large part of France over the hours.
This disturbance, in addition to bringing locally sustained rain, will be accompanied by strong gusts of wind on the coasts. The wind will also be sensitive inland.
After the passage of the cold front, some clearings will return along the Channel in a trailing sky, but a very clear drop in temperatures will affect these regions during the day.
Temperatures drop on Sunday
Sunday, the drop in temperatures will be brutal compared to the mildness of the last few days. Temperatures will have a hard time exceeding 10 degrees at the best time of day. In the north of the country, the maximums will not exceed 6 to 7 degrees in the afternoon.
The drop in temperatures will also be accompanied frequent snow showers at low altitude on all the reliefs, excellent news for winter sports resorts a few weeks before the start of the Christmas holidays.
The decline could continue
At the start of next week, cold and unstable weather will persist in most regions, with temperatures below seasonal norms and snow showers across all mountain ranges.
This cold could even become more pronounced later, with the flow shifting to the northeast sector. Temperatures would then be close to 0°C in the morning and would no longer exceed 5 degrees in the afternoon.
This trend, which is still distant, will however need to be confirmed over the coming days.
