At the call of several taxi unions in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, blockades took place on Monday, December 2, in the departments of Isère and Rhône.
From five o'clock in the morning, Monday December 2, they gathered at the gates of Lyon (Rhône-Alpes) as well as at the Saint-Quentin Fallavier tollbooth (New window) (Isère). Hundreds of taxi drivers set up a filter barrier, letting motorists pass slowly. “I lost about 20 minutes, but it’s still going to last”deplores a driver. In the sights of taxis, the new agreement currently being negotiated with health insurance on medical transport.
According to them, it risks making price reductions with a drop in revenue of at least 30%. Another reason for concern is the probable obligation to transport several patients at once with the implementation of a centralized telephone platform. Medical transport represents 98% of a driver's activity. “If this passes, I would be forced in the medium term to part with a vehicle”he explains.
