On Doctolib, this new option to centralize patients' medical documents worries Health Insurance
HEALTH – A “ real ambiguity “. At the end of November, Doctolib announced new features to be released in its system over the coming year, but one of them is not unanimous in the medical world. Soon, a new tab on the platform simply titled “ health » will allow users to gather and share their medical information. But Medicare fears that this is intended to overshadow “ My health space », the digital health record developed by the State and which today boasts 15 million users.
Users of the application will be able to “collect (in Doctolib) all their health information, their history, their treatments, their allergies, their vaccination records…”announced Doctolib boss Stanislas Niox-Chateau on November 19. “They will only need one click to share them with their caregivers, the same with those of their loved ones. Personalized prevention reminders will soon also be available »he added.
Will this encroach on Medicare? Stanislas Niox-Chateau refutes. “My Health Space is a digital safe and a health record »while the objective of Doctolib is “to make patients truly more autonomous, by providing them with the information that concerns them at the right time”.
“We are discussing with public authorities to create as many exchanges as possible between our solutions and Mon Espace Santé”he even specifies.
“There must be no competition”
However, in an article from Monde published Sunday, December 1, the Director General of Health Insurance questions this offer and says he is waiting for a « clarification » from Doctolib, because “there must be no competition”.
“It seems very close to what “My health space” offers. We have always considered it useful, relevant and even necessary for private and public actors to be involved in the same roadmap on digital health, and this is what is happening, which is very positive”underlined Thomas Fatôme.
“But the reference place for hosting health data is the public service, with “My health space”, it is a choice of the legislator, and there is a real ambiguity in proposing another”he declared to the Monde.
Renforcer Doctolib
The champion of online appointment booking, which has become one of the stars of French tech, is seeking to expand its positions in digital health, by developing its range of digital services for caregivers and their patients.
On the caregiver side, Doctolib has just launched a consultation assistant based on artificial intelligence, which automates the writing of the consultation report.
For patients, Doctolib plans to offer in 2025 and 2026 “personalized medical content by pathology, so that patients have the right information”according to Stanislas Niox-Chateau.
