Sport1 is apparently losing the rights to the top game in the 2nd Bundesliga. Another private broadcaster strikes instead.

Dortmund – According to information from German Press Agency (DPA) RTL has secured the broadcast rights for the top game of the 2nd Bundesliga on Saturday evening (8:30 p.m.) from the 2025/26 season. This is currently still running on free TV on Sport1. This could also affect FC Schalke 04 games.

However, neither the RTL Group nor the German League (DFL) initially wanted to comment on the allocation of rights, reports DPA. Shortly beforehand it had already been announced that the Bundesliga conference would no longer be shown on Sky in the future.

Meanwhile, not much is changing in pay TV. Sky retains the largest rights package for the 2nd Bundesliga. According to the report, it includes 275 live games that take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (more TV news at RUHR24).

98 conferences also belong to this “Package F”. The TV rights are awarded until the 2028/29 season.
