João Baptista criticized the deputies of PSD, PS, Chega and Liberal Initiative elected by Braga, accusing them of forgetting the promises made to the region when they arrive in Lisbon. João Oliveira also highlighted the importance of the XXII Congress of the PCP, to be held between December 13th and 15th, referring to the collective involvement of thousands of activists in preparing the event.

At a dinner with around 300 members and friends of the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) and the CDU, at the traditional Supper of the Braga Regional Organization of the PCP, João Baptista pointed out several examples.

“The railway connection between Braga and Guimarães and the expansion of the Braga Hospital, proposals rejected in Parliament, despite being approved locally”, stated the communist from Braga.

The session featured speeches by João Oliveira, member of the Political Commission of the PCP Central Committee and deputy to the European Parliament, and Inês Rodrigues, from the National Directorate of Portuguese Communist Youth (JCP).

Inês Rodrigues highlighted the role of youth in building a better future, highlighting the preparation of the JCP Congress, scheduled for May 17th and 18th, under the motto “The new world in our hands”.

The young woman highlighted that students and young workers are organized and determined to intervene in today's world.

In closing, João Oliveira highlighted the decisive role of the PCP in combating social inequalities and injustices at a time of difficulties worsened by the war and economic crisis. He criticized the recently approved State Budget, stating that it serves the interests of a minority of large economic groups to the detriment of the needs of workers, retirees and pensioners.

The leader denounced the failure of measures such as increasing pensions, creating a public nursery network and reducing VAT on essential goods, while tax benefits worth millions of euros were granted to large companies.

João Oliveira also highlighted the importance of the XXII Congress of the PCP, to be held between December 13th and 15th, citing the collective involvement of thousands of activists in preparing the event.
