The Stellantis automobile group announced, Sunday, December 1, the resignation “with immediate effect” of his emblematic boss Carlos Tavares. The group's board of directors, under the chairmanship of John Elkann, “today accepted the resignation of Carlos Tavares from his position as general manager with immediate effect”, specifies a press release. His successor will be appointed during the first half of 2025. “In recent weeks, divergent views have emerged, leading the board and CEO to make today’s decision”declares Henri de Castries, senior independent director of the group.
Stellantis management affirmed at the end of November that no factory closures were planned in the short term in France, but the deleterious context in the automobile industry will lead to a drop in production.
