“From what I saw at this exit poll, I think that the wisest thing – because we already have an experience that we went through – the wisest thing would be to wait for tomorrow's count. (…) We, united, can do miracles! If we are united, the Russian bots on TikTok cannot destroy our democracy, that's for sure! There is no way they can do this! We did not forget their tanks when they occupied our country and we did not forget how much suffering they brought. I understand what is happening in society, I understand the upsets, I understand the frustrations and that is exactly why I am here now. This is the result that the old politicians have been doing for 35 years. They created their system which has now angered the Romanian people. I think we really need to make a change and recreate the political elite and also, very importantly, give more credit to the intellectual and cultural elite in this country”, added Lasconi.

“Without the voice of reason nothing can be built, I am proud of this result. We have to wait for the votes to be counted, but I am extremely proud that all our communities, starting with Harghita, came and showed that we are a strong, united community and we want to have a say in the direction in which Romania will go” , Kelemen said.

What does the electoral threshold mean?
This Sunday's parliamentary elections determine the next composition of the Parliament, consisting of 332 deputies and 137 senators.
The electoral system is proportional, intended to limit political fragmentation in the Romanian Parliament. Thus, in order to obtain mandates, political parties must exceed the electoral threshold of 5% of the national vote (votes validly cast) or at least 20% of the votes from at least four electoral constituencies.
Electoral alliances must pass a higher threshold, namely 8% for two-party alliances, 9% for three-party alliances, and 10% for multi-party alliances.
