The “Green Team” gave in to Strasbourg this Sunday and let Cholet and Paris Basketball slip away at the top of Betclic Elite.
Two days after overthrowing Efes Istanbul in the Euroleague basketball (97-82), Asvel fell foul of the championship, beaten in Strasbourg (77-75) on the 10th day. The Villeurbannais (3rd, 7 v./3 l.) let the Choletais (1st, 8/1, one game in hand) and the Parisians (2nd, 8/2), winners on Saturday, after this defeat against the SIG which remained on a slap received in Paris before the international break (106-74).
Asvel logically bowed in Alsace, led from start to finish before waking up too late: it came back to blow in the neck of Strasbourg's Filip Kruslin (19 pts including 4/9 at 3 pts) two minutes behind the end (73-71), in the wake of Nando De Colo (19 pts). But the former leader-back of the Blues then missed the winning shot just before the siren, after the Villeurbannais wasted their previous possession to get back in front (offensive foul by Mbaye Ndiaye).
-Nancy, first!
Nancy, for her part, went for her first away victory, at Le Mans (96-85), which nevertheless remained on a success in Monaco (86-74). Sluc enters the qualifying places, alongside Strasbourg and the Sarthois (5 v./5 d.), thanks to a good external address (13/26), notably from the Clément Frisch trio (22 pts at 5/7 at 3 pts), Caleb Walker (19 pts, 2/5) and Chris Clemons (22 pts, 3/7).
