Today, Benfica will try to achieve their seventh consecutive victory in the I Football League when they visit Arouca, for the 12th round, in order to take advantage of the defeat of leader Sporting to get closer.
The 'reds' enter the field in third place, with 25 points, eight behind champion Sporting, who suffered their first defeat of the season in the championship against Santa Clara (1-0), but Benfica has two fewer games played than the 'lions'.
On the other hand, the triumph guarantees Benfica's rise to second place, as FC Porto only has two more points and will only play on Monday.
With six consecutive victories in the I Liga since Bruno Lage took over as coach of the team, Benfica will face an Arouca team that has not won in five games in the championship and that will not have coach Vasco Seabra on the bench, due to punishment.
The game between Arouca and Benfica is scheduled for 6pm, after Estoril Praia hosts Famalicão and before SC Braga visits the AVS field.
The Bragaenses are in fifth, four points behind Santa Clara, and do not want to let the Azoreans escape, facing the AVS team, which has not won for six consecutive rounds.
