Actor Niels Arestrup dies

The actor Niels Arestrup died at the age of 75 at his home in Ville-d'Avray (Hauts-de-Seine). His press secretary and his wife announced it this Sunday to AFP. Between 2006 and 2014, he won the César for best supporting actor three times, for My heart stopped beating in 2006, A prophet in 2010 and the last for Quai d'Orsay in 2014. He will have participated in more than sixty films since the 70s. Niels Arestrup also played in the film Goodbye up there, but also in the series Black Baron et Black butterflies.

“I am extremely sad to announce the death of my husband, the immense actor Niels Arestrup, at the end of a courageous fight against illness. He passed away surrounded by the love of his family”wrote his wife, Isabelle Le Nouvel, in a press release.

Six César nominations, three times awarded

Niels Arestrup had been nominated six times for the César, for his supporting roles. He received his only nomination in the best actor category in 2015 for Diplomacy. He pursued his career in cinema and theater simultaneously. He had been nominated three times for the Molière for his roles in Copenhagen in 1999, Letters to a young poet in 2006 and Diplomacy in 2011.
