After three consecutive defeats in Ligue 1, Stade Brestois returned to victory on Saturday November 30, beating RC Strasbourg (3-1) on the 13th day of the championship. A relief, but also fears for the future after the injury of midfielder Edimilson Fernandes who replaced Pierre-Lees Melou, who was also injured.

Finally a victory in Ligue 1! This Saturday, November 30, Stade Brestois was able to win against RC Strasbourg 3 to 1. With these 3 points, the club temporarily moved up to 10th place in the standings.
It's relief after three consecutive defeats against Nice (0-1), Montpellier (1-3) and Monaco (2-3).
Weighed down by its failed starts to matches this time, the Finistère club had targeted the start of the first period in its pre-match speeches. Even more so against Strasbourg who had become accustomed to great starts since the start of the season. Eric Roy's players did not miss each other this time.
With Romain Faivre and Mathias Pereira Lage starting, they quickly put in place high pressure which paid off in the 9th minute when Guéla Doué took the ball away with his hand in his area.
After intervention by the VAR, Kenny Lala converted the penalty against his former club to put the Brestois in front (1-0, 12th).
Well installed in a fairly new 4-2-3-1 system, the Ty-Zefs continued to push.
If the break goal was first refused to Pereira Lage for an offside position (37th), the winger finally celebrated his 28th birthday just before returning to the locker room by winning his duel with Djordje Petrovic on a serve perfect from Julien Le Cardinal (2-0, 45+1).
“I usually put him as a finisher with his passion, his energyrelates Eric Roy, the Stade Brestois coach. He deserved to start the match. He's a soldier, he always works for the team. It's good.“
Brest could have made the match easy if Ludovic Ajorque had not missed a second penalty awarded in the 52nd minute.
But the Finisterians even, contrary to their good habits, slowed down afterwards.
Brendan Chardonnet and his teammates gradually fell back and even suffered the reduction of the score in the 88th minute by Abdoul Ouattara in an action where the defense was a little wait-and-see (2-1).
Fortunately, Romain Del Castillo, coming off the bench in the 80th minute, delivered the Francis Le Blé stadium (3-1, 90th minute) to offer the Bretons their first league success since October 26.
“Romain Del Castillo who has incredible qualities that I want to awaken“, assured Eric Roy at the end of the meeting.
The only downside, but a significant one, was the injury exit of Edimilson Fernandes at the start of the second period. The Swiss midfielder, who had put in a solid performance so far, added his name to the already long list of injured players in his position, including Pierre Lees-Melou who he usually replaces, but who will not play again before 2025.
This new absence could cause a serious headache for Eric Roy during the next matches, while Jonas Martin will not return for many weeks either.
