Like last week in Las Vegas, it is George Russell who will start at the head of the starting grid in Qatar, but this time the Briton achieved the second best time in qualifying. Max Verstappen, author of pole position, was in fact penalized by one place, and will therefore start second. The McLarens monopolize the second row, Lando Norris ahead of Oscar Piastri, while the two future Ferrari teammates, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, will start fifth and sixth.
The fourth row will be 100% Spanish, Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso ahead of Sergio Pérez, back in Q3, and Kevin Magnussen, qualified tenth. Pierre Gasly will start eleventh ahead of Guanyu Zhou and Valtteri Bottas, who confirm the Sauber's best form at the end of the season. Yuki Tsunoda completes the seventh row of the grid. Lance Stroll and Alexander Albon will start on the eighth row, ahead of Liam Lawson and Nico Hülkenberg, eliminated in the Q1 phase. Franco Colapinto and Esteban Ocon finish this grid, with the nineteenth and twentieth times.
Start of this penultimate round of the season at 5 p.m. French time!
