Red Jorge, act II.

Six days after being beaten in (1-0) for his first outing with the Stade Rennes cap on his head, Jorge Sampaoli saw, on Saturday afternoon, his new machine unlock against Saint-Étienne and swallow three points for the first time in a month. Better than that: the Bretons offered themselves a small festival (5-0), favored by the exclusion of Mathieu Cafaro at the end of the first period.

Welcomed by a cloud of smoke bombs, the Sampaoli players were, in fact, initially slow to answer the questions arising in recent weeks, with only Blas managing to send a slight shiver down the back of Larsonneur's neck after half an hour of play. (32e) and Cafaro stood out, on the other hand, with a firecracker sent to Mandanda's left post (17e). The red card received by the green number 18 following a hand out on a shot from James, thrown into the eleven after his good start in Lille and again excellent on Saturday, then broke the padlock. Arnaud Kalimuendo opened the scoring from the penalty spot (39e1-0)then Ludovic Blas then went to clean the underside of Larsonneur's bar (45e2-0).

Coming with ideas, especially in ball exits, the Greens finally sank after the intermission and only received mandals until the final whistle: twelve shots taken, including seven on target, and three additional goals , registered by Gouiri (3-0, 53e) at the end of a superb movement, and Kalimuendo (61e4-0, 67e5-0)where Mandanda had nothing to do to kill time, even if ASSE never stopped playing with a certain ambition. What to remember? That Rennes, who had a high rate of possession (72%), gave themselves a nice breather, of course, with Ludovic Blas involved in all the goals and who played a more eccentric role in the second half, which allowed him to do a lot of damage; that Sampaoli did not like everything, starting with what he saw from Mikayil Faye at the restart in the first act, but that the Argentinian has a good basis to build the rest of his adventure in Ille-et- Naughty.
