Two unknown traces of human DNA were detected on the bones and clothing of little Émile, found on March 30, 2024, after new analyses.
Is this a twist in the investigation into the death of little Emile who disappeared in July 2023 in the Alpes de Haute-Provence?
Two partial traces of human DNA were found after the analysis of Emile's bones and clothes, reports RTL this Friday, November 29.
The research was carried out by the forensic hematology laboratory in Bordeaux (Gironde), which was seized of the case at the end of June. RTL specifies that these traces of DNA are foreign to that of Emile and that of his family.
We also learned that they were found in very small quantities and that they were degraded. We then speak of “partial DNA traces”.
Little Émile disappeared on July 8, 2023, when he had just arrived for the summer vacation with his maternal grandparents, in their second home in the hamlet of Haut Vernet, attached to the commune of Vernet, at 1 200 meters above sea level, recalls AFP.
Nine months of investigation without yielding anything
For nine months, the investigation yielded nothing concrete, until the discovery on Saturday March 30, 2024 by a walker of the skull and teeth of the 2 and a half year old child, approximately 1.7 km from the hamlet of Haut-Vernet.
The investigating judges, who are leading the investigation in Aix-en-Provence, immediately deployed dozens of gendarmes on the ground, including specialists in “crime scene engineering”, anthropologists and two dog teams. searches for human remains, said the prosecution. They were able to find clothes and a small piece of bone in the same area, below where the skull was discovered.
However, these discoveries still did not explain the child's death and extensive expertise continued in Pontoise, at the Criminal Research Institute of the National Gendarmerie (IRCGN).
