FORECAST SUMMARY
While our Black Friday started with some sunshine, it turned a little gray from late morning into the afternoon, with some scattered rain and snow showers peppered throughout the area. It was a chilly day as well, with highs mostly in the mid 40s. But that will feel mild compared to an extended and unseasonably cold stretch of weather that arrives this weekend, and sticks around through most of next week. Keep in mind our average high for this time of year should be in the upper 40s, and we’re likely to not even make it out of the 30s every day through next Friday. It won’t be record-setting cold, just prolonged and consistent cold with highs in the mid to upper 30s, lows in the low to mid 20s, and a brisk daytime breeze often adding an additional chill. While cold, it looks mainly dry through the middle of next week with partly or mostly sunny skies each day. The one exception to the dry rule would be later next Wednesday and Wednesday night, as a fast-moving clipper system delivers the chance of some light snow, followed by even more cold air.
DETAILED FORECAST
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY
We’re in for a good-looking weekend, but not necessarily a good-feeling one, especially if you’re out for extended periods, perhaps searching for that perfect Christmas tree or doing some holiday decorating. Look for mostly sunny skies on Saturday, and partly to mostly sunny skies on Sunday. Highs both days will only be in the mid to upper 30s, with a brisk breeze around 10-20mph adding a chill. Nighttime lows both nights will drop deep down into the 20s, likely low 20s for most.
MONDAY AND TUESDAY
It’s back to work and school for many after the long holiday weekend, but weather-wise, it’s a continuation of our Saturday and Sunday weather. Look for partly sunny skies, unseasonably cold highs stuck around 35-39°, and a brisk wind making it feel colder still each afternoon. Nighttime lows remain around 20-25 degrees Monday and Tuesday nights with clear to partly cloudy skies.
WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY
We’ll watch a clipper system pass through late Wednesday and Wednesday night, with our only chance of precipitation for the next week. Given the cold air in place, it should be snow, granted mostly light snow. Still, a coating to an inch of snow would be possible across the area with a favorable track from the clipper, mostly late Wednesday and into Wednesday night.
