On this subject, Gabart, now 41 years old, confided, still according toAFP : “We have a window which is not simple but records are made to be attempted. There is something to try. It will be an upwind start in a strong wind and especially very heavy seas. Once these conditions are met muscular crossings, it goes very well until the equator, or even further.” It was this Friday around 2:00 p.m. that François Gabart's maxi-trimaran left its home port of Concarneau, after entering stand-by which dated from Monday, November 18. Gabart already holds the solo round-the-world record. A record set in 42 days, 16 hours, 40 minutes and 35 seconds. To try to win the Jules Verne Trophy, the skipper has enlisted the services of Tom Laperche, Amélie Grassi, Antoine Gautier, Émilien Lavigne and Pascal Bidégorry. In this same quest, Thomas Coville, aboard the maxi-trimaran Sodebo, set off with his crew this Friday evening, at 9:03:46 p.m.
