Three Nations and the Others
This new biathlon season, obviously highly anticipated, began this morning in perfect conditions, at the Idre Fjaell site in Sweden, with the first men's sprint scheduled for this week.
For the members of the French team, this race, and the second sprint scheduled for Saturday, are very important because the two best Tricolores will leave on Sunday on the World Cup circuit, joining Fillon Maillet, Jacquelin, Perrot and Claude .
So this morning, Guigonnat, E.Claude, Lombardot and others had no other choice than to shine against the Norwegians and the Germans, three teams well above the competition.

Antonin Guigonnat on the podium
Like last season and the previous one, the Norwegians started very strong with the success of the very quick Sverre Dahlen Aspenes. Aged 27, he won in 23'20 with the best skiing time and a shooting error.
His compatriot Martin Uldal, 9/10 also, takes 2nd place 12 seconds behind.
The battle between Tricolores turns this morning to the advantage of the experienced Antonin Guigonnat. The Haut Savoyard shoots perfectly, shows his skills on the skis, and finishes 3rd at 14sec.
Emilien Claude, a shooting error, who also wants his place in the World Cup, also stands out with his 4th place 19sec from Aspenes.
Oscar Lombardot, 7th at 39sec with a 10/10, and especially beaten by two teammates, did not do well. He is now obliged to pull off a big blow on Saturday morning.
The Germans Simon Kaiser and Lucas Fraztscher finished 5th and 8th. The Norwegians still place Isak Frey in 6th place, Johan Olav Botn (3 faults) 9th and the returning Sivert Bakken excellent 10th.

Note the successful beginnings, at this level, ofAxel Garnier22 years old, who took 15th place at 1min22 with a perfect shot. Gaetan Paturel ranks 17th and Theo Guiraud Poilot 22nd.
