It was Friday November 29, 2024 shortly after 9 p.m. that the crew led by Thomas Coville was the first to set off on this crewed world tour from the line located between the Créac'h lighthouse (Ushant) and Cape Lizard in the southwest of England. The crew of François Gabart set off on Saturday November 30 at 7:50 a.m.
The two great trimarans had respectively left their home port in Lorient and Concarneau on Friday early in the afternoon to join the starting line.
For these two crews, the record to beat is 40 days, 23 hours, 30 minutes and 30 secondsdetained since January 26, 2017 by the IDEC Sport crew, led by Francis Joyon.
The two crews which will take the same route as that of the competitors of the Vendée Globe should, according to reference times, pass the Equator in 5 or 6 days and reach the Cape of Good Hope in 12 or 13 days
