Winners of FCSR Obernai in the previous round, the Garnets traveled to US Raon this Friday. Objective: win to continue the adventure in the Coupe de France.
For this trip to the Vosges, Ibou Sané and Morgan Bokele were established at the forefront of the attack. Alexis Mirbach celebrated his second start in goal in Metz, professionally, while Koffi Kouao returned to his usual lane.
From the start, the Grenats monopolized the ball and camped in the Vosges camp without worrying the US Raon defense. Shortly before the quarter of an hour of play (12th), Morgan Bokele performed a nice number on his left side but the young striker's cross landed directly in the gloves of the opposing goalkeeper. A few minutes later, Ablie Jallow tried his luck (15th), but his powerful shot was repelled by the Raon defense.
Faced with a well-grouped Vosges team, the Messins then struggled to really bring danger into the N3 resident's area. Thus, the first corner of the game kicked by Stéphane Le Mignan's protégés was inconclusive (25°).
At the half-hour mark, captain Matthieu Udol sent a sublime ladle to Jessy Deminguet, who remained at the forefront. The latter did not need to be asked to improve this caviar of captain Metz and then made the nets tremble (0-1, 34°). Energized by this opening score, the Messins were very close to doubling the lead (42°). Following a nice move in the left lane at the initiative of Jessy Deminguet and Morgan Bokele, Ibou Sané unfortunately failed to convert this Metz action.
Returning from the locker room, Stéphane Le Mignan made a first change: Ablie Jallow gave way to Papa Amadou Diallo. Nothing to disturb the Garnets. After a good breakthrough in his lane, Morgan Bokele sent a cross into the area which did not find a taker, but was enough to bring danger to the Vosges defense which was freeing itself as best it could (48°). It was then Gauthier Hein's turn to try, his shot was caught by the Raon goalkeeper (58°).
20 minutes before the final whistle, the Metz coach made a double change. Joel Asoro and Simon Elisor then set foot on the pitch at the Paul Gasser Stadium. The Swedish international celebrated his 200th professional match there. The second, freshly entered into play, was on the receiving end of a cross from Benjamin Stambouli, his header was too weak to worry the opposing goalkeeper (74°).
A few minutes later, the Raon goalkeeper made a miraculous save on his line and prevented Joel Asoro from celebrating this milestone of 200 professional matches in the most beautiful way (80°)! The Messins sent one last shudder through the Vosges defense, the head of the Messin captain narrowly escaped the target (85°).
The score remained unchanged, allowing Stéphane Le Mignan's protégés to validate their ticket for the 32nd finals. See you on Monday to find out the future opponent of the Grenats in the Coupe de France!
