It was a speech that once again shook up the world of cinema. Seven years after the Weinstein affair and the birth of the #MeToo movement, French cinema is in turn shaken by the scandal. On January 6, Judith Godreche spoke on social networks to break the silence and reveal the relationships she maintained with directors Benoît Jacquot and Jacques Doillon while she was still a minor. She also decided to file a complaint for rape, nevertheless being aware that the alleged acts are now time-barred. Since then, the two camps have been engaged in a battle through the media, while several actresses have also accused the two men of sexual assault. But 10 days ago, Judith Godrèche revealed that Jacques Doillon had decided to counterattack by filing a complaint for defamation.
“It’s very special and very impressive, overwhelming”
The director criticizes her for an Instagram post dating from February in which she accused him of “touring with children”, “who he sleeps with”. Indicted for defamation, Judith Godrèche was the guest of Yann Barthès in Daily this Friday to return to the matter. “That means years and years… it's very special and very impressive, overwhelmingto receive a registered letter when you have finally managed to free your speech” she explains to the host, her voice breaking with emotion. The actress also believes that this affair could well turn against Jacques Doillon since it will give her the opportunity to speak out in court, even though her own complaint would not have taken her to court because of the statute of limitations.”I tell the truth and I assume it and I hope to be able to expose, I don't know if it's basically doing him a favor to sue me for defamationit will give me the opportunity to speak in the background” she added. A trial which could well take on a significant scale, especially if the other women who accuse the director are present at the hearing.
