A little more than two months after the last round in Azerbaijan, Formula 2 resumed its course in Qatar where the final sprint of the 2024 season begins. On a track almost unknown to most of them, the drivers took their time before gradually increasing the game.
While the improvements continued, it was Paul Aron (Hitech GP) who positioned himself at the top of the rankings with a best lap of 1'38″024. The Estonian, who we do not yet know if he will be on the F2 grid in 2025, beat championship leader and future Sauber F1 driver Gabriel Bortoleto (Invicta Racing). However, the gap is not really representative since the Brazilian finished more than 6 tenths behind Aron.
Interruptions in the final third, such as the red flag caused by Luke Browning (ART Grand Prix), prevented some drivers from getting closer to the top of the standings. Isack Hadjar (Campos) for example did not make the Top 10, finishing 11th at 1“6. For his part, Victor Martins (ART Grand Prix) placed well with the 5th time at 0.9 from Paul Aron.
