This Thursday, the Glasgow Rangers dictated their law at the Allianz Riviera in Nice. Faced with a totally apathetic Gym, the Scots were far superior to their hosts and won by a large margin (1-4). «RANGERS FC is deeply concerned by several unacceptable incidents that occurred last night in Nice where the safety of our supporters was put at risk. The club has been in contact with UEFA, Football Supporters' Europe (FSE) and local French authorities for several weeks, with information suggesting that this match could be problematic given the experiences of other visiting clubs. Despite this important work, our supporters were disappointed by the draconian security system imposed by the local authorities, poorly organized and poorly executed. This system has been modified several times without notice to the Rangers staff on the ground. Much of the communications provided to Rangers in advance were also found to be incorrect, with items such as power banks taken away for storage during the match. The heavy-handed tactics used by local police were also unjustified and caused serious distress to many of our supporters. The club remains in dialogue with UEFA and FSE and urges supporters affected by last night's events to contact [email protected] with details, images and video footage. The club would like to express its gratitude to its supporters for their support last night and for their patience while these issues were addressed.»
