Great paddle champion, doctor at the Cornouaille hospital center (Finistère) and bearer of the Olympic Flame: Bigoudène Amandine Chazot died of cancer at the age of 33.
A wave of sadness is sweeping the west coast… The double vice-world champion of stand-up paddle, in 2017 and 2019, and six times French champion was and will remain one of the greatest ambassadors of her sport. The one who was licensed at the Pagaies-club of Pont-l'Abbé was the bearer of the Olympic Flame, during her visit to the legendary Torche spot in Finistère.
For several years, the high-level athlete had been battling cancer. In June 2024, she told Ouest-France “intensely fight” the disease. She spoke about her saving relationship with the sea: “Alone on the water, I feel a kind of fusion with the ocean, it’s like a meditation. » Since January, she had put her career as a doctor on hold to devote herself to her passion… A few weeks before the 2024 Olympic Games, the young mother had confided to “Telegram” that she was even going to resume the competition: “This year, as I have a chemo session every three weeks, I started competing in paddle again.” She leaves behind a husband and a little boy…
