Naïma Moutchou accuses Manuel Bompard of “intimidation” in the National Assembly

The vice-president (Horizons) of the National Assembly Naïma Moutchou complained this Friday, November 29, of having suffered “personal intimidation” from the deputy for Bouches-du-Rhône Manuel Bompard, on the fringes of the parliamentary niche of La France insoumise. “A red line has been crossed”she believes.

It is in a press release published on X that Naïma Moutchou returned to the session the day before which she chaired. While the deputies were debating the repeal, proposed by LFI, of the pension reform, a first incident involving a MoDem deputy took place. But he was not the only one, according to the member for Val-d'Oise. She accused the rebellious Manuel Bompard of having told her: “you are going to pay for it, you are going to pay for what you are doing, you are complicit yes, you will pay for that, yes yes, and electorally. »

The vice-president denounced words that amounted to “personal intimidation” and to “an attack on respect for the institutions and the function that I embody. » And to wonder, then, she underlines, that the two other session presidents who succeeded him were not taken to task: “Is it because I’m a woman?” And a woman with an immigrant background? Is it easier? ».

Manuel Bompard maintains and justifies himself

To these questions about alleged sexism, even racism, Manuel Bompard responds “infamy”. In a tweet, the coordinator of La France insoumise “confirmed” having returned Naïma Moutchou to her responsibility before her voters for “his participation in the organized blocking of the repeal of retirement at 64”. As a reminder, the examination of the rebels' bill was cut short due to the number of amendments tabled by Macronist groups. LFI has made it its hobby horse, while the increase in the starting age has thrown thousands of people into the streets.

But, writes Manuel Bompard, “none of us has ever proposed to resolve political differences other than by voting”. “This approach of victimization which aims to make people believe the opposite is detestable. The accompanying accusations of racism or machismo add to the infamy”he adds.

“If the following session went well, it is because the partiality shown by Naïma Moutchou in the organization of the debates disappeared with the following presidencies, even though they were also supporters of the government”argues Manuel Bompard, with reference to the third session chaired by Xavier Breton, DR deputy.

While Naïma Moutchou protests against “the strategy of disorder and chaos” of rebellious France – although the new legislature was marked by a change of tone from the rebellious in the hemicycle – Manuel Bompard sees it as an attempt to “counterfire after the physical violence of which a repeat Macronist deputy was guilty yesterday in the hemicycle. » A reference to Nicolas Turquois, elected MoDem of Vienne, who admitted having “failed” in the hemicycle after getting angry with a socialist elected official.

This incident will give rise to a meeting of the Assembly office for a possible sanction, confirmed the President of the Chamber Yaël Braun-Pivet this Friday on X. She also “deplored the multiple challenges to the session chairs which contribute to the drift of the debates”.
