FC Twente lost at home to Union Saint-Gilloise. In the Dutch camp we saw a familiar face from Belgium: Michel Vlap.
Union Saint-Gilloise dominated FC Twente in Enschede on Thursday, with a 0-1 victory. The Unionists deserved even a bigger victory, and that will be the former Anderlecht player Michel Vlap (27 years) don’t deny it.
“We were not ourselves today. We were sloppy, not confident with the ball,” Vlap regretted in front of the microphone Ziggo Sports after the defeat against Union. “We could have regained our confidence after half-time, but we just weren’t good enough.”
Twente indeed failed to regain control of the match, and Michel Vlap makes no bones about it. “We have nothing to demand today, we were just not good enough as a team and that is everyone’s fault,” explains the former Purple & White player.
Michel Vlap joined Anderlecht in 2019 for almost 7 million euros. Despite his clear qualities, it was a failure and returned to the Netherlands in 2021, first on a rental basis and then permanently for 2 million euros.
This season he has made a total of 20 appearances in all competitions for FC Twente, with 5 goals and 3 assists.
