Paris – Thousands of trees from several French forests. This Friday, November 29, Emmanuel Macron visited one last time, before the reopening to the public, of Notre-Dame de Paris, which he had promised to have rebuilt in five years, after the terrible fire of 2019. The head of the State was able to discover the new framework of the cathedral, as you can see in our video at the top of the article. Nearly 2,400 trees were needed for the frame and the spire, as explained to HuffPost forestry expert Philippe Gourmain.
It was the Le Bras Frères group which was in charge of rebuilding this framework, accompanied by three other companies in the sector. During their visit, organized by a small committee due to the cramped space, Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron were welcomed at the foot of the spire by its CEO, Julien Le Bras.
The latter specified that the framework was made up of 2000 parts, worked by hand by all the carpenters. He also wanted to thank all the craftsmen who made “a feat” with this reconstruction. The framework represented “20,000 hours of study” for its design, “100,000 hours of pruning” in the workshops and “40,000 hours of installation” .
The carpenters and the National Forestry Office selected no less than 1,200 oaks from several French forests to create this part of the framework, indicates France Télévisions.
This framework, made using techniques dating back several hundred years, is also nicknamed “the forest”. “You were there and up to the task, it’s a source of immense pride for all of us,” greeted the President of the Republic regarding all the professionals who worked on this project.
