“We have been in a situation of crisis for three weeks. exceptional galley. » These are the words of Magali, resident of Achères (Yvelines), on the subject of the total bus strike which has affected the Conflans-Sainte-Honorine depot since November 7, 2024.
This movement follows the creation, on November 10, 2023, of the company Francilité Seine et Oise, which makes drivers fear the loss of their social benefits negotiated years ago. Magali (65 years old), like many other users, saw his daily life impacted.
“I am retired, but I continue to work in Saint-Germain-en-Laye. Instead of the twenty minutes that I took with line 1204, I took 1 hour and 10 minutes.”
Travel time multiplied by three
For three weeks, she has now had to walk almost 1 kilometer to go to the Technoparc in Poissy and take two buses to reach Saint-Germain-en-Laye. All in more than degraded conditions. Its travel time has tripled, even quadrupled during off-peak hours, with a reduced frequency of passage.
“The buses are crowded, we no longer breathe inside, says Magali. Often, when I have a seat, I take children on my lap. And public transport moves slowly because there are traffic jams. Everyone who can takes their car from the strike. »
“Free parking would be welcome”
Some residents have no choice but to walk to Achères station. “It’s more than 2 km from my house. Besides having to walk in the cold, it's pretty dangerous. It’s often dark when I come home,” adds Maxime.
The situation is not easy either for those who are transported. “Free cemetery parking would be welcome to relieve those who can use a vehicle,” suggests William. “In addition, they put us fines when we park at the station when there are no buses,” complains Léo, another resident.
A generally supported movement
However, despite the constraints, many support the strike movement. On the social networksthe petition launched by the trade union organizations is running and messages of support are multiplying.
“I support the strike 100% and yet I am impacted too. Drivers are asked to work more hours for the same price; there is a severe lack of staff to ensure the schedules. I wish them good luck,” we can read on Facebook.
“Drivers are like users, victims of a system. »
A renewed dialogue between strikers and management
If in the first days of the strike, the management of Francilité Seine et Oise refused any exchange with the strikers as long as no bus left the depot, the dialogue has now been resumed. But it is partial. “They come around the table and they leave after five minutes. So it’s not moving forward,” says a representative of the Force Ouvrière union.
For the moment, no end date for the strike is envisaged. The notice period extends until May 2025.
