According to FNAC/Darty, it’s THE hit of the moment in the television department! With a reduction of 1,000 euros offered (-36%) on its 65-inch (165 cm) version and 400 euros (-20%) on the 55-inch model, the latest LG OLED G4 television may be around for a few more days the very good Black Friday 2024 deal not to be missed. So, before you give in, what is this famous G4 worth? 20 Minutes takes stock.
A television that is unanimously appreciated
“OLED still at the top” (Les Numériques). “The images produced are of exceptional quality” (Frandroid). “The new benchmark for OLED”. “A striking image” (technogueira). “Stunning brightness, exceptional video processing, sublime colorimetry” (PPWorld). “A perfect 4K TV for gaming » (jeuxvideo.com)… Don’t throw it away!
There is unanimity around the LG G4 OLED television, the price of which has just suddenly dropped during Black Friday. At FNAC/Darty, but also Boulanger, son-video.com, the latter sales site (which tests the equipment) evoking with this television “an ultimate cinema experience”…
So here it is at 1,790 euros in its 65-inch version; 1,590 euros in 55 inches. Of course, the LG G4 television is still not “given”. But it, which was launched respectively at 2,999 euros and 2,799 euros last May, is no longer necessarily an unattainable dream!
“The G4 is a very good television, which however only benefits from an incremental evolution compared to the G3. Noteworthy point however, like all LG televisions equipped with the Alpha 11 processor that appeared this year, the G4 marks a significant advance in image processing to the point of almost being on par with the Japanese (Sony, Panasonic) until then masters in this matter,” deciphers Frank Ladoire, avcesar journalist, interviewed by 20 Minutes.
A complete operating system
Concerning us, we were also able to discover this G4 at length, just before its release, in the showroom of its manufacturer. Compared to the G3, the G4 is better at handling very high lights and, with a latency of 144 Hz, is a real racehorse for gamingespecially when plugged into a PC.
We also appreciate its WebOS 24 operating system which has the good idea of integrating Apple Music. Hence direct access to titles in Dolby Atmos, the G4 being compatible. It also allows access to the GeForce Now cloud gaming service. More anecdotally, we noticed that this OS has a “Teleworking” tab, which allows you to connect a computer to the television. And that it integrates Alexa to control its compatible home automation.
As a little extra, the anti-reflective filter on the TV panel has been improved, but does not yet come close to matching that found on certain Samsung OLED televisions. Finally, we can deplore the fact that its remote control is a model that has been known for ages by LG and is not backlit. Nor that any USB 3.0 socket is on board.
Finally, be careful: if the G4 (which only measures 2.3 cm thick) is sold with a wall mounting system, its table base remains an option… at 199 euros! To possibly integrate into your budget.
Samsung also applies great discounts
“The G4, especially in its 65-inch version, is a real runner for a while! », Enthuses Alice Pidoux, LG product manager. “This television benefits from LG’s experience and integrates the best of what we know how to do.” Remains with the LG G4 (and despite some areas for improvement) a television premium which makes OLED much more accessible. This grand vintage OLED is not the only one to benefit from significant discounts for Black Friday. With -39% discount on its TQ55S85D, Samsung opposes it with an excellent 55-inch OLED, now sold at 1,099 euros, or 700 euros discount.
For its part, LG confirms that the G4 stock placed with its distributors will be able to meet demand. But from Monday, the discounts granted for Black Friday will be nothing more than a memory. Unless the manufacturer has new surprises in store for consumers for Cyber Monday!
