Price error or future promotion on the PS5? When Amazon gets carried away with a crazy offer for Black Friday

The PS5 Slim Digital, already on sale for Black Friday, was displayed at an even lower price for 20 minutes at Amazon!

Black Friday 2024 is here! On this occasion, and while the official date had been set for this Friday, November 29 in , resellers and e-commerce giants are competing with attractive promotions. On the PS5 front, Sony has jumped ahead of everyone by revealing its new prices and packs on its PS5 Slim console on November 22! Since this resounding announcement, the price seemed set in stone: 374 euros for the Digital Edition, or 75 euros less than before. An unbeatable price?

This was without counting on Amazon which created a general surprise on Thursday November 28 shortly before 5 p.m. The American online merchant has in fact published the PS5 Slim Digital Edition Fortnite Cobalt Star pack at just 356.83 euros, defying all competition and symbolically approaching the 100 euro discount mark compared to the price charged until November. This fantastic offer unfortunately only lasted 20 minutes before disappearing as suddenly as it had appeared. At 5:15 p.m., before our eyes who were monitoring this flash sale to offer you the best prices, the pack was again displayed at the “classic” price of 374 euros, leaving us hungry and with our questions.

Was it a simple pricing error? Of a future price revealed inadvertently? Or a commercial operation cleverly orchestrated to create buzz at the dawn of Black Friday? The mystery remains… You can still check and find all the best prices on the web with our comparison below.

One thing is certain: with or without Amazon's ghost offer, the PS5 has never been so affordable since its release. While the PS5 Pro, launched in September at the controversial price of 799 euros, does not benefit from any discount, its little sister the PS5 Slim sees its price melt like snow in the sun. The “Standard” version with Blu-Ray player thus goes from 549 to 475 euros, while the Digital Edition crosses the symbolic bar of 400 euros.

Aggressive prices which should make people happy as the end-of-year holidays approach and allow Sony to boost its sales. Remember that these offers are available until December 12 from authorized resellers but also on the PlayStation Store. But given the enthusiasm generated, it is better not to wait too long before placing an order, otherwise you risk seeing stocks disappear before your eyes! A word of advice: stay tuned this Friday, the official day of Black Friday. Who knows, the PS5 at 356 euros may make a comeback at Amazon or elsewhere. Error or not, at this price or at 374 euros, it would be a shame to miss out if you are a fan of gaming…
