Jack Butland has lauded Hamza Igamane after Rangers beat OGC 4-1 in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.

Igamane grabbed a brace and an assist as the Light Blues thrashed the Ligue 1 club in on 28 November, with Vaclav Cerny and Mohamed Diomande also chipping in.

Butland later took to social media to express his delight for the Moroccan and hailed the Gers’ overall performance as “outstanding”.

“Buzzing for the lad [Igamane]outstanding from everyone”, the goalkeeper wrote in an Instagram story [28 November].

Contrary to what the scoreline might suggest, Nice were heavily involved in the game, registering more possession and passes than the visitors.

The former Stoke City man therefore had to be at the top of his game when called upon and did exactly that.

However, he would be disappointed not to keep a clean sheet after Badredine Bouanani grabbed a late consolation goal for the French outfit.

Igamane, meanwhile, staked his claim to start ahead of Cyriel Dessers when Rangers visit St. Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday [1 December]although he infuriated Ally McCoist on one occasion.

Dessers did not do himself any favours when he missed a sitter after coming on as a second-half substitute.

It now remains to be seen if Philippe Clement will reward the 22-year-old with his third league start for the Glasgow giants.

In other Rangers news, this BBC pundit could not believe what he saw in the Gers’ win against Nice on Thursday.
