Revenge and resentment from divorce: Totti and Blasi must learn from Fedez and Ferragni
Francesco Totti and Ilary Blasi, 2020

When a long love ends there are two ways to react: go to war or defuse it. If there are children, the options should be reduced to just one, the least distressing for them. A rule of common sense that neither Ilary Blasi nor Francesco Totti seem to have applied for their separation, which has been on the pages of magazines for years due to mutual spite. Yet, Italy had dreamed with their big wedding, with what seemed like the ideal family: not perfect but, still, apparently better than most “common” families. But no, because when all the issues come to a head we discover that, deep down, the rancor, the resentment and the desire for revenge for that wrong suffered 15 years ago are the same.

Reporting your ex-husband, the father of your children, for leaving the youngest child alone at home, without making sure whether it is true or not, is not only wrong if you are Villapizzone’s godmother, it is always wrong. And it is even more so if your life is constantly under the magnifying glass of the public, because not only do you expose yourself to a bad impression and legal consequences, but above all you expose your children, two of whom are still minors, to unwanted publicity . It was the showgirl’s parents who called the police on the night of May 23, 2023: the former footballer was out for dinner with his new partner in a nearby restaurant, all three children were at home, none of the which are still adults. The youngest, on the phone with her mother, tells her that she is home alone. The showgirl video calls her and the little girl was actually in a room alone. Blasi believes the little girl and, finding herself in Milan, calls her parents, who rush to the Totti house. They ring the intercom, no one answers and they call the police. The police arrive and ring the intercom: the babysitter who has looked after the children for years appears at the door. Everything is in order, the report is drawn up and the incident seems to be over like this. But no, because the showgirl still filed a criminal complaint.

Why? In a divorce battle, not all weapons are legal. And even if they were legally so, they are still not ethically so. Which is no less relevant aspect, especially if there are children. Blasi would currently receive maintenance of 12,500 euros for her children, which according to some media sources she would consider too little and would like to be increased. A perspective that Totti does not agree with. And so it goes on, between one press indiscretion and another, in a back and forth that has lasted for two years. Who would have thought that a mature couple like theirs would have something to learn from the Ferragnez? And instead, the two over-forties should look to the example of Chiara and Fedez. At least in the management of divorce. Leaving aside his useless and childish outbursts with his songs against his ex-wife, the separation was handled masterfully. Thanks to the lawyers? Without a doubt, but also them: let’s give to Caesar what is Caesar’s. Ferragni has renounced child support, since she has her own livelihood she doesn’t need her husband’s money to put a plate on the children’s table.

But Fedez is not left behind anyway, because he is responsible for the costs of school fees. Which are definitely not cheap. Agreement found, no scandal in the newspapers and peaceful children. It’s not that difficult, especially when you don’t have to do the math to make ends meet.
