Moustapha Diakhate, former president of Benno Bokk Yaakar’s parliamentary group, was sentenced to two months in prison by the Dakar flagrante delictos court. This decision results from his controversial comments asserting that Pastef’s Senegalese voters were “alkou”, a term he tried to defend during his trial. One of his lawyers, Me El Hadj Diouf, describes this judgment as a judicial error and announces an appeal, hoping for a favorable outcome for his client before the Court of Appeal. Case details

Cheikh Thiam, alias the Ambassador, was sentenced to one month in prison after spreading false information on YouTube. He had claimed that a plot was underway to assassinate prominent people through poisoning or sniper fire. Although he expressed regret, the fact remains that his words led to this conviction. On a more economic note, Senegal received the sum of 6.5 billion FCFA as part of its partnership with the European Union for sustainable fishing.
