A narrowly avoided fight in the National Assembly between deputy Nicolas Turquois and other elected officials on November 28, 2024.
POLITICS – MPs who almost come to blows. This is the surreal scene that took place this Thursday, November 28 late in the evening at the National Assembly, while parliamentarians were debating the repeal of the pension reform within the framework of the niche parliament of insoumise France .
According to the testimonies of several elected officials present in the Hemicycle, the Modem deputy Nicolas Turquois approached the socialist deputy Mickaël Bouloux just after a new suspension of the session around 10:30 p.m. “My family was threatened! And these are people from your village! “, would have thrown the first to the second, reports Le Figaro.
AFP adds that a source within Modem explained that Nicolas Turquois, opposed to the repeal of the pension reform, complained of having received “ threats, insults and phone calls » with Mickaël Bouloux. The head of the Modem deputies, Marc Fesneau, was even forced to intervene between the two men.
Antoine Léaument claims to have almost taken “a dough”
LFI deputy Antoine Léaument also claims to have been intimidated by Nicolas Turquois. He returned to the incident a few minutes later: “What happened just now is extremely shocking (…). One of your colleagues first threatened our socialist colleague. Then when I asked him to leave the Hemicycle, he came to threaten me. »

“Luckily, Mr. Fesneau, that you were there to detain the colleague from your group and that the bailiffs intervened, because otherwise I’m not sure that I wouldn’t have gotten a dough,” he added. After this altercation, Nicolas Turquois was actually escorted out of the National Assembly. Several videos and photos taken by deputies were published on X as you can see below.

Marc Fesneau, for his part, took the floor to say that he “regretted” the actions of his colleague. “ The MP in question will explain this in due time… There was no act of violence. (…) These are things that happen,” he pointed out. However, this behavior has already been observed in Nicolas Turquois, who almost came to blows last July with RN deputies Jean-Philippe Tanguy and Émeric Salmon.
At the resumption of the debates of this tense day, the president of the session Xavier Breton (LR) announced that he would propose to the President of the National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet to discuss the incident at the next meeting from the office of the Assembly with a view to sanction.
The day ended at midnight without the LFI text proposing the repeal of the pension reform having been voted on. There remained nearly 600 amendments to be examined at midnight, the deadline for discussions, the presidential camp having slowed down the debates with the stated objective of preventing a vote on this emblematic reform of Emmanuel Macron's mandate.
