“We didn’t expect it”: the candidates for Best Pastry Chef burst into tears

For week 8 of Best Pastry Chef, it was time for childhood memories. A moment of emotion reinforced by the letters received by their loved ones, which did not leave our pastry chefs indifferent.

It's already been eight weeks that the pastry chefs have been competing every week under the Best Pastry Chef marquee, against Cyril Lignac and Mercotte. Thursday November 28, 2024, it was time for childhood memories. The candidates had to recreate their childhood bedroom, all in cake, obviously, to fill the house of the Best Pastry Chef. Everyone let their childhood memories resurface to provide the best possible room, with their story.

Who made the best room?

The candidates quickly moved to impress the jury. Timothée made the jury laugh a lot with his very messy room. “I wouldn’t have stood it if I had been your mother,” Mercotte commented. Benjamin presented the room he shared with his brother. If all the performances were successful according to the jury, two stood out. Christelle, thanks to her job as an interior designer, has created a magnificent bedroom. We could even see the movement of the duvet! Details that particularly pleased Cyril Lignac and Mercotte. José's room was also very popular. The latter was also particularly surprised to be selected in this event.

“It’s coming for this week child”

If the theme of childhood was an opportunity for the candidates to delve into their memories, it created a lot of emotion among the parents, far from their children to be able to participate in the condition. At the end of the test, the pastry chefs were surprised to find a mailbox full of letters from their loved ones. “It’s good for this week child”, said Christelle as she opened a letter from her son. “I’m away from him so I can be with you and I miss him,” she confided. Same emotion for José who also opens a letter from his son and his sweetheart. The pastry chef burst into tears. “Besides, it’s his birthday today.” he clarified. Benjamin also discovers a letter from his son, which upsets him. “I’m not used to being separated from him,” he explained. “It's very complicated, I know it's very complicated for him too, but soon I'll be home.” he added.
